Baltimore

Baltimore is a major U.S. seaport. The city's historic Inner Harbor was once the second leading port of entry for immigrants to the United States, and a major manufacturing center. After a decline in manufacturing, Baltimore shifted to a service sector-oriented economy. Johns Hopkins University and Johns Hopkins Hospital are now the city's largest employers.

The Inner Harbor is now home to the Harborplace, a shopping, entertainment, and tourist center that includes the not-to-be-missed National Aquarium. Baltimore boasts vibrant culture, food, architectural, and arts scenes. From breath-taking panoramic views of the skyline from the Observation Level of the World Trade Center to the up-close and personal experiences of street performances at the waterfront, Baltimore's Inner Harbor offers a wide range of entertainment, restaurants, sights, and sounds.

Famous for its crab cakes and other seafood delicacies, Baltimore is home to some of the world's best crab houses and seafood grills. When visiting, don't miss Maryland's state crustacean featured in crab cakes, crab soufflés, crab imperial, and soft-shell crab sandwiches - not to mention world-class rockfish, scallops, and oysters.
