Nestled near where the Mississippi River and the Missouri River meet, St. Louis is Missouri's largest metropolitan area.
The St. Louis Art Museum, located in Forest Park (which is bigger than New York's Central Park and home to the St. Louis Zoo, the most-visited zoo in the U.S.), dates from the 1904 World's Fair and houses an impressive array of modern art. The City Museum offers a variety of exhibits, including several large faux caves and a huge outdoor playground. The city's famed Gateway Arch commemorates the acquisition and settlement of the lands west of the Mississippi River that are part of the nation today.
St. Louis has 40+ Fortune 1000 companies. Famous as a beer town, the city was home to Anheuser-Busch Breweries until its 2008 acquisition by Belgium-based Inbev. Sports-wise, St. Louis has got the goods: take in a Rams, Blues, or Cardinals game - or Roller Derby at the All American Sports Mall! Or if music's your scene, check out some of the world's hottest jazz and blues clubs, like the Bistro and BB's Jazz. St. Louis is home to the world-renowned, Grammy-winning Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra.
