Memphis is also home to nine Fortune 1000 companies including FedEx Corporation, AutoZone Incorporated, International Paper, and Thomas & Betts.

Memphis in May is a month-long series of events promoting the city's heritage and influence. There are four main events: the Beale Street Music Festival, International Week, the World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest (the world's largest pork barbecue-cooking contest), and the Sunset Symphony.
