Once known almost exclusively for brewing and manufacturing, the Dairy State's largest city was once the home to four of the world's biggest breweries - Schlitz, Blatz, Pabst, and Miller - and was, for a time, the number one beer producing city in the world.
Milwaukee has reinvented itself over the past decade as a hub of tourism, family fun, and genuine American culture. Major recent additions to the city include new skyscrapers, condos, lofts, and apartments. The home of the Brewers and the Bucks offers a number of world-class attractions. The River Route includes stops in the historic Third Ward, home of the William F. Eisner Museum of Advertising and Design. Visitors can also take the Lake-Valley Route to the Milwaukee Public Museum and Discovery World Museum.
Musically, Milwaukee is a Mecca of classical, rock, pop, hip-hop, jazz, and more. Venues such as Pabst Theater, Marcus Center for Performing Arts, the Helene Zelazo Center for the Performing Arts, Marcus Amphitheater (Summerfest Grounds), Riverside Theater, the Northern Lights Theater, and The Rave bring internationally known and critically acclaimed acts to Milwaukee.
